"Grief Cocoon" is an installation piece. It is a personal refuge for transformative reflection, exploring stages of growth through loss. Originally intended as a space to reconnect with my Jewish ancestry as a third-generation American, it has also become a space to grieve the recent loss of my father. In a culture with few outlets for discussing and experiencing loss, I created this piece to rewrite the narrative and extend an invitation for others to join up-close. Cyanotype prints represent stages of the metaphorical "cocoon" or “womb” where inside, I “sit shiva” (a Jewish mourning practice) and process layers of grief, reflecting on the potential for collective transformation through shared human experiences.
