Katya Urban is a New York City-born, Los Angeles-based artist, mostly creating video, sound, performance and installation works. Her inspiration is rooted in the energy of her city upbringing, the serene spirituality of natural landscapes and the powerful legacy of her ancestors' traditions. Katya's artistic process draws on the interplay of these  forces,  seeking to craft experiences that resonate on multiple levels.

At the core of Katya's work is a quest to access collective memory and communal grief held within the spaces she creates. Her art explores technology, vulnerability and connection and through that unlocks a collective consciousness and delves into shared experiences, memories and emotions. Through her work, she endeavors to evoke empathy, forging connections between individuals, their environments and the communities they inhabit.

Katya firmly believes in the transformative power of her art and the magic it can create. By providing avenues for introspection and communal gathering, her art becomes a catalyst for people to explore deep within themselves and their communities and imagine a more caring and empathetic world.

Her work is as varied as the songs she has written and performed for her LA-based band, marguerite, to the clothing she has created for her brand, Angel Boy World, to her short films. She has a passion for installation and performance art and is currently working on a project called Emotion House that has received multiple grants, including from The Arts and Climate Collective and Arts in Action at USC, where she is completing a major in Visual and Performing Arts Studies and minor in Performance Art.
